Imagine one of your family members or friends peacefully walking down the sidewalk minding his or her own business when a car suddenly leaves the road, slams into this individual and ends up taking his or her life. A family is mourning the loss of their loved one in a deadly auto accident after a woman was killed while walking near Marian University, recently. According to reports, a car left the road, jumped the curb and continued onto the sidewalk until it struck the woman. The car then collided with another vehicle before coming to a stop. The woman, who was yet to be identified, was taken to a nearby hospital but she did not survive her injuries. Neither of the drivers of the two vehicles was injured in the incident. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the accident.
At the time of this report, authorities reportedly did not think that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. However, there were no indications as to why the vehicle left the road and went onto the sidewalk. Authorities did not say whether or not the driver was speeding or driving recklessly or if he or she was distracted before the accident took place. Officers say that both of the drivers involved in the accident have been cooperating with the investigation. It was not known if or when any charges would be filed.
Obviously anytime a person is killed in an auto accident it’s a tragedy. While this accident is still under investigation and the cause is yet to be determined, it appears that the driver of this vehicle is responsible for this woman’s death. While there have yet to be any reports of her family pursuing a lawsuit because of her death that could be a possibility down the road.
